Daniel Woods has completed a short granite roof in Boulder Canyon, Colorado, that he’s graded V16 — the first boulder problem given this grade in the United States, and one of the few in the world. The Game presents an all-too-obvious challenge, with eight hard moves across a giant talus block about 50 meters from the highway. The climb had been eyed and tried for years, but until this winter no one but Woods had been able to do all the moves.Solo New Route on Aconcagua South Face

American Chad Kellogg has soloed a dangerous new line on the famed south face of Aconcagua (6,962m/22,841'). Kellogg traveled to Argentina with Rory Stark, aiming to acclimatize on the normal route on Aconcagua's north side and then attempt a line on the south face. Dave Birkett, Andy Mitchell and Mary Jenner climbed a once-in-a-lifetime winter route last weekend on Scafell's East Buttress. Birkett has an almost religious relationship with this hallowed crag and this new winter route, he told us, was one of his most intense mental and physical climbing experiences ever. The route takes a combination of the rock routes: Gold Rush (E1) the Yellow Slab (HVS) to finish with a grand finale up Overhanging Grooves (E3) The ascent was completed over two days and Dave has kindly written an account for UKClimbing.com, see below.
